Welcoming Tomas to the lab!

We’re pleased to welcome Tomas Rodriguez, our new undergraduate intern, to the lab! Tomas is an exchange student from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

His primary interests lie in human pathogenic diseases and immunology. He was drawn to the Ankarklev Lab both to gain technical skills for his future research and to explore his growing interest in zoonotic diseases—an interest sparked by reading Spillover by David Quammen. The book examines emerging infectious diseases and their impact on public health, a topic that has become even more relevant in recent years.

Tomas will be working with the liver team during his 10-week internship, and we look forward to having him in the lab!
